Our Story
The Venice Diplomatic Society was born in June 2015, when a group of Ca’ Foscari students decided to team up to invest in young people‘s expertise within the fields of diplomacy and international relations. The association has been evolving over time, growing in the number of members and exporting some projects outside Venice.
Today, “VDS” is a Non-Profit organization based in Venice, Italy. Our main aim is providing students, professors, graduates and citizens in general with the chance of acknowledging the complex functioning of international organizations and introducing their inner workings, training to speak a foreign language in front of an international audience, and debating about the most pressing topics of the Planet’s agenda.
Among our activities, we organize and design Model United Nations (MUN), Model European Union (MEU) and Debate Society meetings, we publish articles written by our members on our blog called International Hour, and even contribute to the formation of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice delegations in international simulations. In 2017 VDS also started ‘VDS@School’, an activity within the project Percorsi per le Competenze Trasversali e per l’Orientamento (PCTO) in collaboration with the Counseling and Welcome Office of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.
